Safety Tips For Your Cat and Kitten

Cats and kittens are naturally inquisitive and therefore can easily lead them into danger, even in a house that seems harmless.  Before your cat or kitten arrives in your home you should take a look around your home for potential hazards and move dangerous items out of your cats reach.

paw Keep all doors to washing machines, dryers, refrigerators, freezers, and ovens closed at all times

paw Don't leave any sharp utensils lying out, keep them in drawers

paw Keep toxic household products in cabinets (if your cat is particularly clever you may want to put a child lock on the cabinet door)

paw Don't let your cat walk on counter tops, especially the stove

paw Keep plastic bags out of the reach of your cat, these could be potential hazards for suffocating

paw Make sure your electrical cords for stereo equipment, tvs, lamps, etc. are tucked away and don't let your cats chew on them

paw Install a fire guard around your fireplace

paw Don't put a hot iron where your cat could knock it over

paw If you have indoor plants make sure they are not toxic to your cat
